Emuhaya parliamentary aspirant Rodgers Okonyo Omurambi received blessings from elders during a ceremony held at Mwitua Primary School, marking what many believe to be the start of his official campaign journey.
During the ceremony, the elders performed traditional prayers and offered symbolic gifts as a sign of unity and goodwill.
Speaking on behalf of the elders, Mzee Mukuna said they had gathered to give Omurambi their blessings because they believe he has the vision and leadership to uplift Emuhaya.
“We have seen how Omurambi has been close to the people. He listens, he helps, and he understands our problems. Today, we bless him so that his dream to serve the people of Emuhaya may come true,” said Mzee Mukuna.
In his remarks, Omurambi thanked the elders and residents for their trust and promised to focus on development, education, and youth empowerment if elected. He also emphasized the importance of voter registration, urging everyone to take part in the ongoing exercise.
“This is our time to make a difference. I encourage every young person and every resident of Emuhaya to go and register as a voter. Your vote is your voice, and it is the only way we can shape the future we want,” said Omurambi.
He joins a crowded of those seeking to take over from current legislature, Jeremiah Omboko Milemba.
The incumbent is romoured to be eyeing the Vihiga gubernatorial seat, seeking to succeed Wilber Otichillo whose second and last term ends in 2027.
