Police officers based at the Migosi Police Station in Kisumu have recovered another suspicious vehicle, registration number KDS 990N grey in colour from suspect Evans Otieno Meda’s rented house in Khayeko.

The Toyota Voxy was moved to Migosi Police Station, as investigations continue.

The development comes hours after officers under Migosi and Kassagam Police Stations acting on “an actionable intelligence led operation,” raided two homesteads within Khayeko junction and Aliwa village, and recovered 11 motor vehicles which had no valid ownership documents.

The vehicles are:

1. KDE 662F WHITE TOYOTA AXIO

A police report said that a detailed search carried out at the Aliwa house of one Michael Eric Mwaga resulted in the recovery of one-piece toyota make car radio, one piece pioneer car radio, one piece sonny car radio, one piece rear car plate reg. no. kdc 629p (cut into 4 pieces), a set of car plates reg.no. kdg157h and assorted vehicle parts which will be used in court as exhibits.

32-year-old Mwanga and 37-year-old Peter Andei were arrested.

Evans Otieno Meda, believed to be the mastermind of the vehicle stealing syndicate, has since been arrested by officers based at Central Police Station.

Police say ownership verification by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) revealed that out of the 12 cars detained, only one car belongs to the main suspect, namely Evans Otieno Meda, while owners of the remaining vehicles are outside Kisumu.

“Relentless efforts to apprehend the main suspect are at an advanced stage,” police said in a statement.

Kisumu County Commissioner Benson Leparmorijo on Tuesday told the press that police will not rest, until all suspects in the syndicate are arrested and charged.
